چکیده

Several studies have shown that autoimmune diseases are preceded by a long pre-clinical phase, and that many autoantibodies can be detected in the serum of asymptomatic subjects years before the clinical manifestations become evident. Three parameters must be carefully quantitated for predictive tests to be clinically useful: sensitivity of prediction, specificity of prediction, and positive predictive values. Purpose of review is to summarize the evidence for use of autoantibodies in screening asymptomatic

Thyroid autoantibodies in chronic urticaria: A case-control study in a South Indian population

Background: Chronic urticaria (CU) is a common skin disorder that accounts for 15%-20% of dermatological cases. There is growing evidence that some cases of chronic idiopathic urticarial (CIU) are associated with various autoimmune diseases, including thyroid autoimmunity. This study aims to identify the thyroidprofile, including thyroid autoantibodies, in patients with CU.Methods: This case-co...

The mosaic of autoimmunity: prediction, autoantibodies, and therapy in autoimmune diseases--2008.

Predictivity of autoimmunity For more than two decades, the detection of serum autoantibodies has been used for the diagnosis and classification of autoimmune diseases. In addition, some autoantibodies have a prognostic significance or are used as markers for disease activity. In recent years a new piece in the mosaic of autoimmunity has clearly emerged – namely, the predictive value of autoant...

Immunofluorescence Pattern of Autoimmune Bullous Diseases in Iranian Patients

Background & Objective: Autoimmune bullous diseases are associated with autoimmunity against structural components in the skin and mucous membranes. Autoantibodies are against the intercellular junctions in pemphigus disease and hemidesmosomal unchoring complex in pemphigiod diseases and epidermolysis bullosa aquisita. The tissue-bound and circulating serum autoantibodies can be detect...

Comparison of Serum Level of Antiphospholipid Antibodies and Homocysteine in Patients with Pemphigus Vulgaris and Healthy Subjects: A Case-Control Study

Introduction: Pemphigus vulgaris is an autoimmune blistering disease of the skin and mucous membrane. Antiphospholipid antibodies are a group of autoantibodies found in patients with autoimmune diseases. Due to the risk for thrombotic events in autoimmune diseases, we decided to evaluate the correlation between pemphigus vulgaris and predictive elements of atherothrombosis including antiphospho...
